Thank you for visiting the website for San Gabriel PTA. We hope to share news about the activities, events, and our work on behalf of the students and families at San Gabriel Elementary School in Atascadero, CA. The activities and programs that our PTA directly supports through fundraising and/or volunteers include:
  • Educational field trips

  • School Assemblies

  • Scientist in Residence and Artist in Residence programs

  • Battle of the Books and Reading Incentive programs

  • Gator Fun Fair

  • Field Days

  • Family Science Night

There are many ways that you can help. Please consider attending a PTA meeting, volunteering your time, providing goods or services, or making a donation to San Gabriel PTA. We are completely volunteer-run and appreciate any support. So please look around, contact us, and check back often for updates.




24th District PTA Battle of the Books - June 10, 2017

We have some GREAT NEWS about an activity for ALL 3rd-6th grade students.  The Twenty-Fourth District PTA is hosting a countywide competition for Battle of the Books!  The event is FREE and will take place on Saturday, June 10, 2017 beginning at 9 am.  If you are not familiar with Battle of the Books, details about this fun competition can be found at the Battle of the Books website.
 
Registration is now open and will run through May 31 or until 200 students have registered (whichever comes first).  Visit www.24thpta.org or follow this link to register your student:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BattleOfTheBooks2017
 
To qualify, students must
  • be a 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th grade student
  • be a resident of San Luis Obispo County
  • attend a public or private school or be home-schooled within SLO County
  • have read at least five (5) books* on the Battle Book List 2017  (If your school is holding a Battle, our list should match yours.)
This fun day for students includes breakfast, lunch, and a chance to win some fun prizes, including tickets to SLO Blues Baseball games, the Santa Barbara Zoo, the Great American Melodrama, and Hearst Castle.  Don't miss out on this awesome, FREE event!  Register your student today and be sure to tell your friends!

Thank you to San Gabriel families, teachers, staff, and students for making our winter book fair such a success!!


Your support by shopping and volunteering at the book fair directly effects the many wonderful things your PTA provides for at San Gabriel: curriculum materials for our teachers, as well as books and enrichment for our students!! Thank you so much for your support!! Together we raised $2,426.46 during our All For Books coin drive! All teachers received many more books for their classrooms….way to go San Gabriel!!

Staff Treat Day, February 4th

Greetings Gator Families!

Thank you so much for volunteering to help out with our Staff Treat Days! I've heard nothing but great feedback and many thanks from our teachers and staff for the yummy food you all provided! Thank you!  Our next "Staff Treat Day" is Wednesday, February 8th.  Please help me show these teachers and staff how thankful we are for them and all of their hard work! The theme for this treat day is Beautiful, Bountiful Brunch!    Please sign up for what you can contribute below. 

*I will have containers to keep food hot in the staff lounge that morning.

*Please remember we have over 80 staff members at our fabulous school. I've split everything up but please bring enough for 20-30 people

Narnia Series - Movie Nights for Camp KEEP

Narnia Series begins Friday January 27th'


The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, rated PG

Doors open at 5:30pm. Movie begins at 6pm, finishing approx. 830pm

Come enjoy the new sound system in our cafeteria, pajamas and blankets welcome.

Donations taken the week prior and at the door. Suggested donation $3 each or $10 per family. Concessions to be sold before and during the movie.

All donations will benefit the 5th Grade Class attending Camp KEEP.

Pumpkin Decorating Contest - Oct 31, 2016

San Gabriel Gator's Annual
PUMPKIN DECORATING CONTEST
 October 31st
Pumpkins will be judged in the following categories
Scariest Design
Funniest Design
Family Design
Traditional Design

Please bring your decorated pumpkin to the stage area in the morning on Oct 31st by 8:30am!
You must have the entry form filled out and turned in with your pumpkin (we will have extras at the stage for you).
Pick up your pumpkin after school or they will be thrown out!!!

Remember, pumpkins are not allowed on the bus!

All for Books - Nov. 28 - Dec 2, 2016

Get ready to celebrate the love of reading with our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair! We will have many fun reading activities and events planned for your child throughout this event. We hope you can join us by visiting the Book Fair with your student between December 5th thru December 9th.  Just in time for the holidays!!


One of our Book Fair goals is to ensure as many children as possible have access to books. One of the ways we can do that is through the All for Books program. With your help, donations will purchase more books for our teachers reading incentive programs and classroom libraries.   


Last year together we raised an astounding $2,150.82 to give right back to our teachers in books:  entire classroom sets, books for classroom libraries, and reading incentive books were purchased across the grade levels!!! Your support was tremendous!! This year we are making a coin drive goal of $2,500…we know we can do it with your help!! Join us in our coin drive:


All For Books Coin-A-Day Challenge

 Each day represents a different type of coin for students to collect an bring in to school. The classroom that collects the highest overall total will receive a prize!!

  • Penny Monday, Nov. 28 
  • Nickel Tuesday, Nov. 29
  • Dime Wednesday, Nov. 30
  • Quarter Thursday, Dec. 1
  • Any Coin Friday Thursday, Dec. 2

If you have loose coins hiding under couch cushions, floor mats, in pants pockets, or the bottom of your bag, put them to good use by giving students more access to books they’ll want to read!


Here’s the even cooler part!!

Not only does your donation help our school, but Scholastic Book Fairs® will match monetary donations with a donation of up to one million dollars in books from The Scholastic Possible Fund, which distributes books to children in need through organizations such as Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc. and Kids In Need Foundation.So cool!!!
